Zzzzzz

This is apparently the week in which I run out of energy. Hopefully I will find it again, since there are 8 more weeks to go!

Had my monthly check-up mid-week and baby seems to be doing great - he's now estimated right at 4 lbs., and the doctor says she always relaxes when her patients hit 32 weeks (that's next week), so that's all good. The weight estimate is of course based on ultrasound measurements, but it doesn't seem like we're going to get much more in the way of good pictures. We got to see plenty of back of head, but no face, for example. Legs and feet, which are cute (and getting bigger), but there just isn't so much room in there so the images tend to be just one part of the body. Anyway, he's just over the 50th percentile on the growth charts, which sounds about right to me. Heartbeat and umbilical cord flow good, bladder working, etc.

My blood pressure is still good (quite low for me throughout pregnancy, something like 95/60) and my weight gain is fine (I'm up about 22 lbs. overall, which as I might have mentioned before includes something like 7 lbs. in April and 2 in May!) Urinalysis normal on both protein and sugar, so I won't do another gestational diabetes screening. Will have results in a few days about my iron/hemoglobin counts and whether the supplement I've been taking is doing the trick. I have very little swelling in my hands/feet, which is good. So basically, all the important stuff is fine. But, my lower abdomen/hips have started to hurt a lot more, so the week has been a little difficult - moving hurts. Sleeping has gotten better - I officially moved into the guest room earlier in the week (somewhat out of desperation) and have been pleasantly surprised to find that the firmer mattress seems much better. I'm not really using the full-body pillow I got last week at all. Just in the different bed, I'm not waking up with back or hip pain - I actually feel like I can move okay first thing in the morning. But it seems that as the day goes on, I get progressively stiffer and achier. It's definitely worse than the round ligament pain I've had off and on for some months. Needless to say, I am hoping to find a solution! I'm still doing some yoga, but am not convinced that the class I'm doing now is actually helping. I have access to some prenatal yoga routines online, and know lots of gentle stretches I can do to try to "open" the hip area, so that needs to be part of my strategy. Not sure what else - really never hurrying at all (I gave up things like running for the tram maybe a month ago, but I think even walking fast downhill is painful now) and being very aware of posture. Otherwise, the doctor agreed that it shouldn't hurt so much just to stand up, walk, etc., and has me coming back in two weeks to check things out. She mashed around a lot to make sure I didn't have a hernia (the pain has been worse on the left than the right) and didn't find anything - and the last few days, the discomfort has been much more symmetrical. I'm starting to wonder if it might be symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), which is not uncommon, so we'll talk about that in two weeks.

But so... the work week was busy, fine, and exhausting, so today my plan is mostly to be lazy. Really happy that is still an option!
