Is it the law to change your last name in the USA? Here, women are known by their maiden names, and by their husband's names, depending on the situation.

That 'and' should have been 'or'. Whoops.

Chinese people say a person's name by [surname] [given name, 1 or 2 characters]. Even when you are married, your official name is the maiden name. Sometimes you may choose to be addressed by your husband's surname (like for parent-teacher meetings), to make things easier. Legally, though, I don't think you change the Chinese name.

Oh geez... I am not looking forward to the name-changing situation. >_<

When my parents married, my mom kept her last name, and all of us children got a hyphenated name. Sure, it's nice and distinctive, but it's caused us problems all our lives (we get some interestingly addressed mail sometimes, our names won't fit on standardized test forms...), and I personally don't think it sounds good on Cy.

I probably wouldn't mind taking her name, but I don't know if she'll let me do that... <^^

If we do get married/have kids...if we go the same route as your parents, thos kids would have a reeeeally weird last name. O_o
