Previous Two Moons
The second encounter was exactly one week after the first, on Friday night.
Tao had kept everything to himself, not wanting to alarm the other two and make them fuss about something that was over - after all, he was sure the guy wasn't crazy enough to come back while Tao now knew how he looked like. The inked-haired boy didn't go to inform the police about what happened merely because nobody was harmed, and the locks weren't even damaged, among other things. And he certainly didn't want to tell anyone how the encounter had gone oh so well. Nonetheless, the whole conversation was still going through his mind, and his incapacity to affect the other with his capacity to freeze the time was beginning to alarm him. Sometimes he even went to the point of randomly freezing people to reassure himself and make sure it wasn't his power that was messing with him. Apparently not. It was just not working on that hottie, unfortunately - not that he had any inappropriate ideas about the whole thing, of course not. He almost went to ask to Lu Han if it ever happened that his power was useless on someone, but he withdrew at the last minute, thinking it could seem suspicious. After all, you don't ask things like that unless you have a reason, or it already happened, and he really didn't have the heart to explain everything to his roommate. Therefore he stayed in the dark, and it wasn't as if the Internet could help him, there was nothing about people like him anywhere, they were hiding too well for that. Hm, not as well as he thought since the intruder had found them, but he guessed it was okay since he was like them - he wasn't going to cry monster since he was in the same position.
Anyway, like every Friday, he got home late and so wasn't surprised to find his two friends already sleeping in their room, but Tao was so exhausted that he didn't really care if the noise he were making was going to wake them up or not, dragging himself upstairs and carelessly throwing his bag into his room before quickly heading to the bathroom. He just hoped he wouldn't fall asleep into the foggy warmth, as it had already happened once or twice. He slowly stripped off, having a hard time keeping his eyes open, and stepped under the hot stream, a groan of relief falling out of his lips when the water hit his skin and sore muscles. He bent down, hands on the tiles, and let the water do his work while inhaling and exhaling deeply, slowly relaxing the tension of his body and enjoying the feeling of physical tiredness. After all it was for the sake of his Wushu skills. The tired boy removed his head from under the stream to pass a hand in his hair, pushing his strands away from his eyes before beginning to lazily wash himself. If only he could sleep there without any unpleasant repercussions. Grabbing the towel he dragged himself out of the shower before his eyes got caught on something written on the mirror, on the steam. “Hot piece of ass”. He knew he should be completely freaked out right now, but strangely he just found himself slightly pissed about not having spotted the guy when he wrote that. Maybe he was just too tired to even have a fuck to give. Tao took another towel and quietly dried his hair, just letting a annoyed sigh escape him before exiting the bathroom, dragging his feet along the floor but still unconsciously gripping his towel tightly around his hips. Maybe next time he would bring his clothes with him.
Entering his room, he didn't even bother looking around and just dropped the towel before slipping into a pair of boxers, perfectly knowing the freaking creeper was around, and threw himself on his bed, head first on his pillow. Who cared anyway, he had already seen him butt naked, right?
“How disappointing”, he heard the man singsong from the corner of his room, but didn't bother looking up. “And here I thought you would seek me out after my little message.”
“Please leave, I'm tired”, Tao mumbled into his pillow, eating it halfway. He couldn't even bring himself to care if the man was just a creepy stranger or a dangerous psychopath right now, he just wanted to sleep.
“I can see that.”
The response was surprisingly short and curt, but Tao didn't really register it, nor did he hear anything after that for a long time, thinking that maybe the guy had finally left him alone. He still didn't know how the tall man always managed to sneak in and out of the house without anyone noticing, but seriously, the young man's brain was practically to a stop, saying him to shut his inner monologue up and fucking sleep. Well. Who was Tao to refuse? His mind was already drifting away when he felt the mattress crushing on both of his sides, the presence above him immediately making his senses snap awake, screaming danger. Tao stayed still, body as tensed as a bow, ready to move at the first threatening move, before slowly turning his head on the side when nothing happened after a long minute of silence and catching a breath in his throat. He didn't expect a face to be only inches away from his, lips wearing a teasing smirk and eyes looking as if searching for something. Tao's eyes narrowed dangerously, lips curving into a snarl when he opened his mouth, voice low and threatening. He hated being cornered.
“And what the fuck do you think you're doing...?”
The honey-haired man blinked slowly, his breath ghosting over Tao's cheek, and his smirk suddenly disappeared from his lips. It was the first time he wasn't acting or playing the smug guy in front of him, and the change of expression completely changed his face too, conveying a sort of dark threat by waves, but not aimed at him. It was hard to fathom out, and Tao couldn't help but swallow, the heavy stare and sudden change of atmosphere making him flare his nostrils as if it would help him getting more air into his lungs, and by the way cool his uncomfortably warming body. He was so screwed.
“Are you scared?”
Tao just couldn't look away from those eyes, staring into them as if completely mesmerized, his response thick and rough on his tongue. “No.”
“You should, though.” The other man stated and pressed his hands on Tao's shoulder-blades while sitting on his ass, putting all his weight on it, the young man's eyes widening and swallowing hard, still looking into the liquid-brown ones to try and guess what was going to happen next. If he should begin to react or just suffer it a little longer. “Or maybe not.”
The handsome face then disappeared from Tao's field of sight, and hands began to slowly and steadily massage his back, thorough and without missing any sore spot. He first let a confused look take place on his face, but soon relaxed under the touch, moving a bit to get more comfortable and be reminded that his 'hot weirdo' was currently sat on his ass, the thought oddly not as awkward nor as arousing as it should be in his mind. He had no idea how long he let that stranger take care of him, but he found himself in the state he was in when under the stream of hot water, sleep hovering over his eyelids and hums constantly leaving his parted lips, completely relaxed and trusting. It felt wrong, letting someone he just met once and supposed to be dangerous be on top of him like that, showing him his back and leaving him exposed. He had learnt a long time ago to never let his back defenseless when in a situation he wasn't sure of dominating his opponent.
“You know, I did some research about that little problem of yours”, the other man whispered into his ear, visibly not willing to let go of the agreeable silence taking place between the two of them. Tao shifted a little while emitting a sound that was supposed to show his interest, lightly opening the eyes he had unconsciously closed to put his hazy and unfocused pupils on the honey-haired man, listening. He didn't notice the short seconds the hands stopped on his back before resuming their motions.
“I asked around and heard some interesting things. I don't think you're going to be pleased about it though.” The voice was even, as if to hide something underneath that his usual acting could give away.
Tao blinked, trying to regain his full attention, not liking where the conversation was going. “What do you mean?”
“I'm not sure of anything yet.” The man just said with the same tone, making the younger one frown, all trace of sleep gone to let the place for suspicion.
“Spit it.” The inked-haired boy slightly turned his upper body over, propped on one of his elbow to find the tall man with an unreadable expression. “There's definitely something you're not telling me.”
The snort that followed his sentence definitely wasn't good, and the look in the other's eyes when this one stood up and rolled to the edge of the bed, perpendicularly to the Tao so that he could still watch him wasn't either, to say the least. “I've never told you anything, Tao.”
A shudder ran down his whole body at the two things this one and short sentence was suggesting, frozen under the man's stare. It was so blank he didn't know if it was reassuring or just scary. Nonetheless the whole situation hit him like a truck at full speed ; He really didn't know anything about the man, just that he was like them - not even what was supposed to do his power. He had no clue what his life was like, not even what his name was, and yet the other seemed to know everything about the young boy - and he was sure he never told him how he was called. Should he freak out now? He was beginning to think he was completely insane to let that stranger interact with him and even show his fucking back to him when a tickling sensation under his foot made him look at the edge of the bed, where the honey-haired man was now lazily passing his nails along the underside of his foot, laid down, head resting on his palm. What the fuck was that.
“Back to Earth?” He asked without looking up, his fingers still going through the same motion, over and over again. Tao didn't respond, just looking at him warily.
Figuring out the younger wasn't going to say anything, he slowly stood up with a sigh, stretching his arms above his head before walking toward the window, as if nothing had happened. He stopped and his eyes finally met Tao's again, the amusement of the first meeting sparkling in his pupils, the irritating smirk back on his lips. For some reason Tao felt shivers run down his spine, his instinct telling him something was definitely off. He swallowed, trying to gulp down the lump in his throat but it only seemed to make it worse. It was exactly the same expression as the first time he had seen him, and even under his skin he could feel the wrongness crawl its way, though he couldn't pinpoint why or how. He didn't like that. Not a bit.
“You always leave this window open.” The tall man suddenly said, his gaze sliding to look through it, the two moons creating two shadows at his feet. Tao's heart missed a beat when both shadows spread each a pair of huge wings. Bony wings. Ragged wings. At the sight something in the young boy's chest clenched, a sudden need of fresh air becoming overwhelming if he didn't want to vomit right on the floor. How could they be so... decomposed? Enormous holes were piercing what seemed to be hide, or maybe they once had feathers, he couldn't say, and didn't want to know more since just by their shadow they gave him the urge to inhale deeply to control his stomach, the bits of hanging flesh, as if they were clinging to the wings even if there were no hope left for them, making him look away. He just couldn't stand the sight. And the exhausted expression on the honey-haired's face didn't make it any better.
“Open it.” Tao demanded, widened-eyed and skin paler than usual, earning what seemed to be a worried look from the other man at the hurried and shaky voice he had used. A concerned frown, even after his smug acting.
“Are you oka-”
“Open it and go away!” Tao suddenly snapped, startling the both of us at the harshness of his tone, but he didn't have the time to correct himself, the window already open and letting the cold wind come inside, the awful wings already slowly flapping, as if in pain, to obviously fly away. Their owner, oblivious to what Tao was witnessing, shot him a last glance before leaping from the window, the sound of a landing never heard.
But strangely, it wasn't because he had finally discovered what was the tall man's ability that Tao couldn't find sleep, it was the reminding of those things that looked more like a carcass than actual wings, and the hurt and bitter flash he had managed to catch in his brown-eyes before the man vanished.
