Ashley Inman: Welcome to America, where women are welcome to engage in lesbian pornography for men's sexual pleasure but god forbid they get married. (via)
Currently, 13 countries allow same-sex marriage, with the numbers set to increase. It is subject to the death penalty only in six countries, though illegal in rather more (numbers likely to decrease). So, actually not so.

Actually, only about a third of Nigeria has the death penalty for capital punishment, so that knocks roughly 110m off right there, and various US States have same-sex marriage: Massachusetts (6.6m), California (38m), Connecticut (3.6m), Iowa (3.1m), Vermont (0.6m), New Hampshire (1.3m), DC (0.6m), New York (19.6m), Washington (6.9m), Maine (1.3m), Maryland (5.9m), Rhode Island (1.1m), Delaware (0.9m), Minnesota (5.4m) for a total of 95m. As for some Mexican states: Quintano Roo (1.4m), Mexico City (8.9m).
So, that's 230m leaving in jurisdictions with the death penalty versus 373m leaving in jurisdictions with same-sex marriage.
Even if you knock off partials altogether, that means Nigeria gets left out of the "countries with death penalty" and same-sex marriage is still ahead.
All I can say is, I'm glad I'm in one of those 13 countries. :) We have some annoying stuff going on, but at least our human rights treatment is pretty liberal.
I am too. Which is why things like the OP get my goat. We're doing *well*, and changing *fast*, there's no reason for all the insults, hatred and bitterness. It's asinine and counter-productive.
