I knew it would have to eventually happen, but finally, the soccer bro's were out last week. Again, this is a for fun league after work which ranges from some pretty old people and people of different skill levels and fitness levels. This may get racist so let me put it behind a cut, because that'll make it better!
Of course, I feel that all the very bro'ish players are white (American, Europeans tend to be more mellow) ENGINEERS! This supports my theory that engineers are largely bros and I'd guess there's something cultural about white Americans having to show they're so amazing at pickup soccer? And I wouldn't even say these players would be considered the best (again to be racist, the best players are likely Hispanic or black players). But they're the most annoying (obviously subjective). Probably there are two or three in mind, but I feel like there's a need to talk about how "if I wasn't so tired, I'd bury that shot" (like you have to defend yourself?), take the hardest shot possible (we don't even use real goals), and generally are excessively try-harding among older players (we have a mix of ages, but I'd say the majority are 40+ and don't do tons of running).
But I'd say it's still generally enjoyable.
And I just finished my fantasy football draft, which was okay. Could have posted this like 1.5 hours ago.
