It really is starting to look like once a month is getting to be my posting rate. Not good. That's mainly because work's been killing me. Probably more in the stress aspect than anything. But today, I did feel like I made some good progress on several projects so that's good. I also have this fear that people think I'm incompetent, which is probably completely unfounded.
But we're going on vacation! Angie, Alfie, and I are going to a cabin in the woods in West Virginia. The cabin is also near a lake so it'll be a mix of hiking in the forest and rowing a canoe. I'm pretty excited to relax with the fam. This morning, Angie and I were making a quick list of things to bring, and Alfie had more items than us! And I hope I'll be able to read some more. I've been feeling too burned out lately to get much reading done. So I'll bring not only my current book City of Illusions by Ursula K Le Guin, but I'll bring a second book out of ambition. Not sure what I should bring in addition, maybe Contact (Carl Sagan) but I'll have to thoroughly look through the library.
In gaming news, I tried and quickly (2-3 days) gave up on Bloodbourne. So the setting and mood were pretty good, probably the reason that I originally wanted to play it. But I just did not like the gameplay at all. And before people are like "get better", I wouldn't say it's just because the game is difficult. I'd say several gameplay decisions were not what I'd think is good. For example, you can't block, but you're slow as crap. You have TONS of healing potions, but can easily get 1 hit/combo'ed by a hidden enemy. And I somewhat like the idea of opening up the map and finding shortcuts instead of save points, but it feels like it takes so long before you get to bosses. And the game doesn't tell you anything about it's own mechanics or system. So to save myself the frustration, I decided to play Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. I am enjoying FFXIII-3 so far. It's different and kind of feels like an open world mix of FFX-2 and FFXIII.
This is a pretty lackluster post, but I guess my life has been so boring lately (too much work). One of the more interesting things is that I have a pimple or an ingrown eyelash. But I'll watch Dr. Strange 2 tomorrow (out of obligation) and have hot pot with my side of the family. On Sunday, I'll probably work a bit while hanging out with Angie's family. Then Monday, driving time =)
