Extra Time!

Mar 25, 2020 16:32

With the combination of working from home and having limited options if I leave the house (due to the closing of "non-essential" business; a funny thing is that liquor stores have been deemed "essential"), I feel like I have so much extra time. Even though my commute isn't far, the little extra time feels significant. On top of that, I feel like ( Read more... )

To add to the "people are dirty" column, here's an article about coronavirus and shoes. Basically, to sum it up: "can coronavirus be brought into the house via shoes? There's no scientific evidence, but just to be safe, take off your shoes and leave them at the entryway to your house."

Dang, people should just do that anyways even without coronavirus being a thing!

I hope, but doubt, that people's general sanitary practices will get better because of this. But since people can't do it during the crisis, I doubt it'll continue afterwards.

It sound like your experience mirrors mine in many ways. I'm starting to warm to the work-from-home thing, and the time and energy saved does feel significant.

Oregon isn't as severely affected by COVID-19 as our neighbors to the north and south (particularly in Seattle and LA), but within Oregon, Washington County where I live is the hardest hit. However, I am pleased to report that the higher powers have deemed liquor stores "essential" here too, and the local packy is open (albeit with reduced hours).

Doing laundry during the work day is so awesome.

The ability to do chores and work at the same time is a great bonus. I wouldn't mind a prolonged WFH state, but who knows how long it'll last.

It's sad, but the reason ABC stores have been allowed to remain open is because of the number of people who would experience withdrawal symptoms and go to the ER for it, further straining healthcare resources.

And we want to keep the populace pacified and happy? No need to cause more problems.

It is kind of funny that bottle shops are declared 'essential' :P
That's the cool thing about working from home. I used to be WFH and you're so much more productive around the house since you've just got more time and energy on your hands.

I don't know if its the same there, but I've found shopping late morning is the best time. It seems like everyone has the same idea of going first thing in the morning that it's super busy, but when I've gone at around 10-11ish it's calmed down a bit.

I imagine there would be some sort of revolt or as the comment above you stated, withdrawal if there were no more alcohol or tobacco.
