With the combination of working from home and having limited options if I leave the house (due to the closing of "non-essential" business; a funny thing is that liquor stores have been deemed "essential"), I feel like I have so much extra time. Even though my commute isn't far, the little extra time feels significant. On top of that, I feel like we get stuff accomplished during WFH like laundry and stuff. Plus we get things accomplished throughout the day during breaks. So it should be clear that I'm pretty happy with the working from home situation.
People seem to be pretty crazy about the "lockdown", but generally being people who stay in, it really hasn't affected us much. So far the biggest thing is that one of Angie's favorite bakeries have temporarily closed! We even went shopping yesterday around lunch and it pretty easy. We were able to go to a local pharmacy, Aldi, Costco, and Shoprite! And it only took us like an hour. Like my mother-in-law keeps trying to go to Costco as soon as it opens "to avoid crowds". And she talked about having to wait in line and be directed. When we went at lunch time, it was much lighter than a normal trip to Costco and there were no lines (except obviously checkout). Although, I will say the first annoying thing about social distancing is that you constantly get stuck behind slow people and I don't know if I should just rush past them since they're SO SLOW but I need to maintain my distance.
Also, since "New York City is the greatest city in the world" (imagine LOADS of sarcasm with that statement), it became the epicenter of the coronavirus in the US. I guess New Yorkers are just too busy and tough to have basic cleanliness standards.
Anyway, I've been doing some tree trimming over the weekend. It's always a tiring and somewhat fruitless exercise. But at least this weekend, I was pruning our peach tree and that was somewhat enjoyable since it was somewhat relaxing AND I climbed it like a little kid (in my youth, I enjoyed climbing trees).
I've been wearing so much "non-real" clothes lately. Basically, sweatpants, t-shirts, flanel/hoodies all the time. I remember thinking that I have too many pairs of sweatpants, but now, it's good that I have so many pairs! And for some reason, I feel like I've been doing laundry more than any time. Who knew?
And the best part of working from home is my current coworkers!
Angie not pictured, but they sure beat normal coworkers =) (
