Day 9 - Off to Aegina
This day was another travel day, but it was fairly interesting travel? Anyway, we had nothing planned for the morning, so we spent a slow and peaceful day at our Corinthian resort on the beach and by their pool. The resort's pool area was pretty nice but we didn't go swimming or anything since we weren't there too long.

I think we had breakfast, walked on the beach, and sat by the pool until checkout time which was probably around noon. Then we drove back to Athens and to the port. The traffic around Athens and near the port was much more than anywhere else in the country (which is expected). And there were times that we were confused, especially around high amount of lanes intersections. But we made it to the port and I parked.
We were going to take an auto ferry to Aegina, which was both exciting and very confusing. The port was fairly lawless so there were random cars parked in various spots near boats so I wasn't sure if I should move our car or not. But since we had some time (hours) to pass before our ship would come in, we walked around the area and got some coffee and pastries. After having our snack, we headed back to the port and waited. This was probably the least nice area that we were in since there were lots of homeless, but I guess it's like a train station but worse?
Anyway, our tickets said to get their an hour beforehand so when it was around an hour before boarding and we didn't see the boat, we were a bit concerned. But apparently boat times aren't stuck to very well and our boat arrived just a little before boarding time. I've never used an auto ferry before so I was fairly nervous since you have to back in, super close to other vehicles. And this was a car that I've been driving, but clearly it wasn't my car. So I was a bit worried. Overall, it wasn't terrible since there's a guy to direct you and I felt like an uber noob, but I backed into the ferry and got super close to another car.
The ferry itself wasn't bad. There was a mini restaurant with drinks and food, but we didn't get anything. There was an indoor area that we stayed in mostly. At various times during the trip, I'd walk around out of boredom. A super nice thing was that it seemed like there were at least 3-4 parties with dogs on the boat. I wonder if Alfie would have liked the boat ride.
Some body of water that's not the Aegean Sea even though we're traveling to Aegina (

The trip was maybe 1-2 hours and I tried to read at various times but really couldn't concentrate. I don't remember if I was tired or too pumped since I'd say I was fairly nervous this day. It all turned out fine, but the more stressful city driving, thinking we'd miss our boat, and backing into the ferry, I was probably pretty amped. But it all turned out fine and we reached Aegina.
They say that you can't be in your car if the boat is moving. That's a lie since when we went down to the car area, everyone was not just in their car, but they were all on and ready to go. So basically as soon as the boat opened the door, cars started streaming out. Exiting was obviously easy and pretty efficient and we drove to our hotel, which was a fun, rural drive around the island.
The hotel was a resort that was a street or so away from the beach. So we checked in and decided to find some food. We walked down the street to the beach area and there were some restaurants. Again, it was down season so many places had almost no people. I think we were the only people at the place that we ate at, but that's good and quiet.
A view from our hotel balcony; their grass and general landscaping was very nice! (

I don't really remember what this was but I think it was some sort of bird on top of fries. (

Angie had Myrmidon shrimp, which were the hugest shrimp I've ever seen! And since Aegina was the mythological kingdom of Achilles' dad, these Myrmidon had to be impressive! (

Oh, at this restaurant, Angie was feeding stray cats the heads and tails of her shrimp... until the owner came over at some point and chased them all away. But overall, it was a nice relaxing dinner. I think we didn't do much else for the night after all the traveling.
Edit: I think we had a stroll on the beach and wandered back to our hotel.
