Totally ganked this from

No matter how one feels about the US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, the wounded soldiers who have come back really need as much support as possible to rebuild their lives. When sending out cards this year (for those who do that sort of thing), send one to the following address:
A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Washington , D.C. 20307-5001
Also, this year organizations such as Toys for Tots, Project Christmas, Angel Trees, etc are ALL hurting. My parents informed my brothers and I that this year they are going to give to these organizations in our names instead of gifts to us. This is fine by me as I know that the Smith brothers really do not need presents - getting together once a year as we do is present enough in my mind. I will be donating to Toys for Tots through work as well as through a Christmas party I am attending in December. I will also give to the Turtle Creek Chorale toy drive for Children's Hospital in Dallas.
Even though Christmas in the US is SUCH a commercial affair, I sure do love to see the joy in a child's eyes at that time. I know when I was growing up, no matter how bleak my existence seemed, I would always find some joy in things during the holidays.
