So I've been at my new job a week now. And I'm enjoying it. I think. I'm just taking longer than I thought to settle in. I'm learning fast in some aspects and slow in others. I can't do everything yet because HO haven't given my till code authorisation yet, so I keep having to ask other people to do stuff for me which is annoying. Not sure I've bonded with everyone yet either. Some of the staff are obviously a little wary of a new person, either that or they just don't believe me when I say I understand the instruction they gave me first time, without having to get it explained a second time. It is easy for me to understand things without me having to get it explained twice - I thought that was a good thing..... am I wrong?
Anyway, the weekend was good. Saturday I met the whole of the weekend team and they're all great. They seem pretty chilled but willing to work, which is fab and much more my management style. As long as everything gets done, and efficiently, I don't mind the guys chatting to each other or moving around, as long as they don't take the piss. And they don't. They appreciate my style and as a result I let them have a bit of slack. Sunday I was off work, and got to spend the day with my Gary. We rented 'Enchanted' from Blockbuster and I actually really enjoyed it. The end was a little odd, but it was nice to go back to old Disney (before The Lion King ruined everything......). The thing is, the whole singing parade thing in New York - anyone who hadn't been to NY would think it was a bit far fetched, but if you've been there, you realise that all those kinds of people singing and dancing and dressed up could quite believabley be in Central Park!
So this week I'm off work on Friday and Gary has an interview in Canary Wharf for HSBC - so excited for him. He's a bit nervous but I know he'll be fine.
