So much in my world...

It has been a long time since I have made any posts. The reason: Input overload. Basically, I have been learning, reading about, and researching so many things that I don't know what to discuss first. This is the reason that creative activity has been at a minimum. I am still questioning where to begin. Despite the things to do in grad school, including my thesis research, I decided at the beginning of this semester that I will start several creative endeavors (with no deadline, the point is the process itself) including a science fiction story, a worldbuilding project (the universe(s) of the story), and what I can best describe as a compilation of futurist/technological ideas. So far, not much progress on any and I don't want to put them off any longer, but the question is where to start, especially since many of the ideas are years old. There are a lot of things that I remember but have not written down except for very disorganized notes on my computer or in a couple of spirals (yes I use paper sometimes). I have two ways of going about any thought process. Either I start with a larger objective in mind - developing a large thought "structure", like a story, world, design, research project, etc. or I discover something really interesting, learn everything I can about it, and then produce something from it or include it in a creative process already under way (output from input). Anyway, both are happening right now, so there is a "traffic jam" in my head and I am not sure what to create from all this input first.

I think I will just stick to the projects I mentioned and save anything interesting I come up with on the side in the form of "quick" notes for later. A pre - planned project gives me somewhere to start, at least. I have a bad habit of changing my mind about what to focus on, especially when I know I have to budget my time carefully.
