This morning we had Andrew's swim lesson. I dropped Rachel off at the child center (she was super clingy), got changed, and then it was time to pick up Andrew from his lesson. So I got him changed, dropped him off, and finally managed to get a decent workout. I did 2 miles on the treadmill, about 10 minutes of that at a steady jog, and the rest at a brisk walk. I've never been a runner, but my sisters have talked me into doing the
Capital 10K, which means I need to improve my cardio health (I also need to figure out a hat to wear). We're planning to have it be more of a stroll than a real run, but I'd prefer to be *able* to run it if I wanted. Then I did some upper / mid back exercises. I need to improve my posture to keep my upper back from hurting, and I've figured out that working on those muscles helps tremendously. I picked up the kids and we had lunch at the gym's cafe. It was actually really good, and not unreasonably priced (though not cheap).
Then we went grocery shopping. I'm attempting to get out of the habit of trying to figure out what's for dinner when Ken calls me on his way home. We end up not eating very well, both in terms of health and flavor, so last night at dinner I had each family member tell me a meat, a vegetable, and a fruit that they wanted to see incorporated into the next week's meals. It was fun, and I have high hopes.
Everyone was tired when we got home. I put Rachel in bed with a Junie B. Jones audiobook to listen to (since she loudly proclaimed she wasn't tired), and Andrew lay down on her floor with his pillow and blanket so he could hear the story too. They received dire warnings about the consequences of fighting, and they've been quiet this whole time, so maybe they actually went to sleep.
Rachel is working on potty training, and I think she's pretty much got it down. This makes me very happy. She's been in panties all or most of the past several days, with progressively fewer accidents.
Tonight we have a Campfire meeting. Yay arts and crafts project!
