I'm sure Lauren will probably write about this, but we watched Last Days together last night. I'm so bad at reviewing movies, you'd think I'd stop. Anyway, directed by Gus van Sant, Louisville native...which probably explains why he sucks so much. I kid--he doesn't suck--not as bad as Louisville sucks, anyway. Starring Michael Pitt, who, with all his hair in his face, looks spookily like Kurt Cobain. Everything in this movie was reminiscent of Kurt Cobain, no matter how many times I hear someone say, "it's not about Kurt Cobain." The only thing there was none of, and thank god, was Courtney, and I think Lauren was right when she suggested the only reason why her doppelganger wasn't included in this was because she would've sued and probably fist-fought someone...or insisted she play herself... *cringe*

It's like Cobain all the way down to the clothes he wears. I'm sure everyone's seen the cover by now:
I believe this movie was very well made. The setting allowed for some really great shots. A lot of it was in the woods or in nature of some sort, when it wasn't indoors of a castle-like building...and the outdoor scenes were drawn-out and pretty. The actor plays his instruments! I don't know about every single sound, but he definitely plays the drums at one point. Man, that made me happy. You could see him bounce as he kicked the bass pedal, and you could see his arms come to his waist for the toms...it's shot from like, behind, and 30 feet away and through a window, but you can still tell. Anyway, a lot of great stuff, except the main character spoke nary an audible line... and I guess, since he was portraying a Cobain figure, he was a drug addict (which was alluded to, but I don't think ever made definite). Anyway, he crawled about and hid a lot. Besides being nice to look at, and--I suppose, some sort of public service announcement--there wasn't a whole lot I got from this movie. The dude made it all look soooooo boring...and I guess, ultimately, that was the point(?). That living that kind of lifestyle isn't all it's cracked up to be? That being a drug addict isn't fun? That your friends will always screw you over at one point or another? They just didn't use a lot of dialog to get that point across, if that in fact was the point they were trying to make...
