Most of my favorite communities have gone quite silent, to be honest... but I'm not ashamed to admit that One Million Words on LJ is my main source of all things.
That said.. I'm most often checking/getting notifications for the following landcomms:
On DW: Starfleet HQ and Lands of Magic
On LJ: HiH Clubs (part of Hogwarts is Home) and Superhero Land
If you're into writing prompts, I suggest:
On DW: Holiday Prompts or Advent Drabbles
On LJ: One Million Words or Writerverse
