Music update the Second

Dec 31, 2018 23:02

I started putting in albums, skipping EPs and various, but realized it wasn't quite working to my advantage, since some CDs are just short..

So, what I ended up doing was making a second folder in each genre -- I've got the music separated between soundtracks, showtunes, and regular music (and I just left the comedy albums right out, for this. I already know I'm only keep two Lonely Island songs, anyway) -- and put anything ~extra~ in there.. so one-off songs, extra tracks that aren't from an album or an incomplete, etc. I also made the executive decision to skip the -complete- recordings for Lord of the Rings because I already had the regular soundtracks in there. and, let's be honest, if you're not going to give me Billy Boyd singing on both versions, why did you even put out that other one??

Only down side to this whole mess is that I'll have remixes (which were awesome in college, but now I'm mostly over them); Greatest Hits/compilations; and live albums (again, I only am partial to a few).

Currently waiting on iTunes to finish clearing a few extraneous items (for example, I only need to know the track number, not how many tracks are on an album; also I don't need someone's advertising in the comments section.

I also am resetting play counts, FOR SCIENCE.

Still have to figure out how I'm going to separate out the 365 days... but I guess that'll first depend on how many different artists there are. (and since some of the albums are short, I might double up the smaller albums on a day, etc)

THIS IS EITHER GOING TO BE AN EPIC EXPERIMENT OR AN EPIC FAILURE.

But, I'm also exhausted, and the downstairs neighbors have been ridiculously annoying for the last few hours... so who knows what's going to happen here in 45 minutes. /headdesk
