Dad finally heard back from his pal up in Wisconsin. He'll be going up on Friday for the annual sales meeting for a company he doesn't even work for and returning Monday-ish. So we've made tentative plans to see the not-a-Bourne!movie next weekend

I used to like Tim Burton, and stll like some of his older movies. But for several years now, all of his projects seem to just blend together. Alice in Wonderland might as well have been called Tim Burton Movie. It looks that generic... the visual style is clearly Tim's, and Depp looks fantastic as always... but is there really anything there which we haven't seen in a Tim Burton movie before? It doesn't seem so.

He used to be a rare, unique voice in Hollywood and it's disappointing that he's moving away from uniqueness to just being a brand name.

Well, actually Burton had nothing to do with Pee-Wee's Playhouse that I'm aware of but he did direct Pee-Wee's Big Adventure which preceeded Playhouse in 1985. It was after this film that he was presented with such scripts as Beetlejuice. It made him famous.
