At Asahi Junior High School I do not have a set schedule. When a teacher wants to have me visit a class, they come up to me and ask me to help them. Normally I try to get my schedule set on Monday. I go up to the three English teachers and ask, “What classes do you want me to visit this week?” The first and second year teacher are good about giving me notice on what classes they want me to teach and have no problem doing this. The third year teacher on the other hand likes to talk to me the day of the classes, normally two minutes before the class starts. This drives me nuts. Take today for example:
I walk into school, set my stuff down, unpack my computer, and start working on my elementary school lesson plans. Five minutes before class the third year teacher comes into the teacher’s room, she sits down in the desk next to me, and starts getting ready for first period. The first period bell rings, the teacher looks up and says, “Erin, are you free to teach first period?”
Of course I am free, the bell just rang and I am sitting at my desk. Yes, I am free! She had been sitting there for five minutes. Why didn’t she ask me when she first sat down? I had to rush to get my stuff ready and it is just a bad way to start a Monday.
