The things kids say

Jan 22, 2008 13:34

Kids will say anything that they want. I have heard a variety of things coming out of my elementary students mouths but today’s blurt was great. I walked into my first grade class I did the greeting and when I finished one of the boys looked at me and said “Erin Sensei, your stomach looks big.”

I looked at him and said, “WHAT?”

He repeated, “Your stomach looks big.” Of course, all of the other students started laughing.

I had to explain that my stomach was not any bigger than the last time they saw me. The reason that it looked big was because I was wearing long underwear, a turtle neck, a fleece jacket, and a long sweater on over that.
Thanks Japan, due to the lack of heating in the schools my students now think that I am fat (or pregnant).
