The weekend was awesome! On Friday night, the ALT gang met at Tsukuba U. This is the entertainment building in Tsukuba; it has a bowling alley, a rock-climbing wall, an arcade, and a movie theater. It was the first of the month (thus tickets were only $10) and the new James Bond movie Casino Royale opened so we all decided to go and see it.
I will admit when I heard who the new James Bond was going to be I was not too impressed...a blond haired, blue eyed, rougher looking Bond? You have to be kidding me! James Bond is supposed to be suave and sophisticated. Man, did I have to eat my words.
Daniel Craig was awesome as Bond. I loved how the movie showed the first 007 mission of Bond and showed how he had to deal with learning to kill, the women, and is ego. The relationship between M and Bond was also very funny in this movie, it explained a lot about how the two feel about each other. I also liked the fact that Bond did not rely on the gadgets but instead was willing to do some hand-to-hand combat. I of course missed the gadgets but I think the movie was better with out them. Of course, Bond had the awesome cars, which I enjoyed. The fact of the matter is that this movie took us back to the start of Bond before he became Bond. It answered some of the questions I had about Bond but also left me with other questions.
In addition, Daniel Craig is HOT! I mean, really, really, really good looking. I think most of the girls were drooling a bit during the movie and I know that we talked after the movie and are still talking about him. He is HOT and really well built. I think I might be in love with him.
I am looking forward to the next Bond movie to see how everything that happened in this movie is going to play into the next. I am also looking forward to seeing Bond grow as a 00 and seeing him evolve into the Bond that we all know and love.
Another highlight of the movie was I finally saw the Eragon trailer. IT IS ABOUT TIME! I was freaking during all of the previews, much to the annoyance of Jana once it came on the screen I let out a tiny “Squee!” The movie looks like it is going to be awesome, I like how most of the cast looks. I am a bit worried about Joss Stone being in the movie, mainly because she is playing one of my favorite characters but I will hold judgment until I see her act. The dragon looks amazing and the scenery is beautiful, Sarah and I are going to see the movie when I get home for Christmas.
On Saturday, Jana, Katie, and I went down to Harajuku to do some Christmas Shopping at one of the tourist traps. We spent the trip talking about James Bond and how hot he is and about life in general. I picked up some good gifts and Jana convinced me to spoil myself a bit. I have a job, I am earning money, and I should spend some of the money I earn on myself.
Once she convinced me, we headed to Shinjuku to the new bookstore they have and I bought myself a couple of books. I got My Sister’s Keeper, The Devil Wears Parada, and On the Run. I am looking forward to reading all of the books and talking to my Aunt Anne about My Sister’s Keeper, she has been on me to read this book since summer and this is the first time I have been to the bookstore so I had to pick it up.
Shinjuku was decorated for Christmas and Jana took a ton of pictures. I hope to have them posted here in the near future. We decided that we are going to have a Christmas weekend, watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate. I just got The Muppets Christmas Carol, Jana has White Christmas, and Katie has The Polar Express and The Santa Claus. I cannot wait. It is still a bit too green and warm for me to be in the holiday mood but I am getting there. It also helps that for the first time, I had to scrap off the frost on my car.
On Sunday, Hiromi, Jana, Brooke, Katie, and I went to Japanese class, where we learned to make tempura. I was surprised at how easy it was too make and how much fun we had
Talking with members of the community it was a great experience. After that, we had our normal class. Jana and I had a great lesson. We were told we have to start thinking about the speeches that we are going to give in February. I am tossing around a couple of ideas; I think I might talk about Christmas in America because it is different from Christmas here.
Anyway, that was the weekend. I had a good time and I highly recommend the new Bond movie to anyone who likes a good movie.
