Well, sis and I just got back from our little 4 day trip down to my uncles house. It was nice to see them all again, but I really didn't like the circumstances.
We'd been house sitting for our parents last weekend and when they got home that got a call from my uncle about my grandpa. He had caught pneumonia and was apparently going in and out of contentiousness. My dad caught the first flight he could down there to help out my uncle and be with grandpa and we were really hoping he'd pull through.
Well, got a call Wednesday from mom that he's passed away. Uncle Wade and dad had made the decision to put him into hospice care for the last few hours and get him comfortable as opposed to shipping him off to the hospital. They both said that they'd rather he be with family and be comfortable in his last few hours as opposed to prolonging with last minute invasive medical procedures that would have just dragged everything out.
The ceremony was nice, lots of awesome memories and it was nice to see everyone just talking about all the cool things we remembered about him. We'd watched him kind of go downhill over this past year, so it was at least nice to hear that his last few hours were peaceful and surrounded by family.
As kind of a pick-me-up, Uncle Wade and my cousin Will took us out to a Go-Kart park to take a few laps and have some fun. Might have to see if the Ocean Breeze go-karts are as fun.
