In a New York Minute

I find that a lot can happen in a little time in New York.  With so many people I guess big things are happening all the time.  Really the point is, he broke up with me.  He had me meet him at the IMAGINE circle in Central Park, in the rain no less, we walked to a waterside gazeebo to escape nature, and he told me that he didn't want to date me anymore.  And just like that, it was over.  All the pictures I had in my head of the two of us spending so much more time together, growing with each other, were suddenly replaced with cold hard reality.  Once again in my life the man that I am in love with only wants to be my friend.   I think my heart broke a little bit just then.  I think it will heal, but I feel like I lost a piece of it.  I haven't seen him since it happened.  That was Tuesday.  We've spoken over the phone and made loose plans, but nothing had come through.  I miss him.  He still sounds like my boyfriend on the phone... but he doesn't say "I love you" anymore.  That hurts a little, I'm not going to lie.

The past few days have been so strange.  New York is almost a new place without him.  I guess it's because all I know of the city, all my time here thusfar has been with him.  Now I almost have to re-learn the city.  I think I die a little inside everytime the subway stops at the 72nd street station and I don't get off.  I wish I could just be in his arms again.  I wish I could see the life-changing smile that he gets when he kisses me.  I know that this is pointless, but I miss it.  I think I got addicted to his love.

I got a job for a hot sec.  I was promoting comedy clubs in Times Square.  It would have paid well if I could have stopped a lot of people and sold them tickets... but I didn't.  People are mean.  I hate tourists.  It wasn't an hourly wage kinda thing... so after 4 and a half hours of working and not making a single penny, I decided it would be better to find a more conventional job.  So once again, I'm looking.  I dropped a resume off at Colony Music... might be a night shift open.  Who knows.

I also met another boy, his name is Tim.  He's very sweet, extremely handsome, and we seem to have things in common.  It felt so weird being with a guy who wasn't Drew though.  The feeling passed and I had a very pleasant time, but it may have made my missing Drew worse rather than better.  We'll see what happens with Tim.  He lives in a pretty cool apartment in the Lower East Side.  I like that part of town, Drew always said it was to dirty and dangerous, that I should never go there.  I don't agree, it's the kind of New York that I love.  Just a bunch of people, mostly having a good time, trying to get through this think called life with some style.  Not much wrong with that.

So much has changed in the last 4 days, who knows what the next 4 will bring,

Eric
