On Wendell's page, I read an article that puports facts about GLBT people should not be taught in schools because the GLBT lfiestyle leads to premature death.

The author is wrong; homophobia causes early death for many GLBTts. Many of us are single cbecause society won't support our relationships by permitting marriage. This leads to greater unhappiness. Often, the local bar is the only place GLBTs and meet and mingle without fear; this leads to grater alcohol and drug use. GBLTs are often promiscuous; I will abmit this. It's hard to be faithful when both GLBT and the larger society don't reward one for it. This leads to high rates of STDs.
If a GLBT commits to a partner, we don't have the same rights straights take for granted. We are told our partners can't receive benefits on our health insurance; it's harder to get good medical care without insurance. In hospital, GLBTs can still be told "only family" can see an ill patient. Many of us are estranged from our families, or lead a double life to keep our jobs, families, and social position. This creates stress, which lead to more high blood pressure, more depression, more autoimmune diseases. We may avoid seeing health professionals, as feel we have brought our problem on our selves. When we seek treatment, we are often told that the doctor wants to change us, or our partners and friends are not given the same support a the spouse of a sick het would receive.
Here's one example. I'm a white upper-income thirty something who votes Republican and dresses pure prep. Recently, I had HPV, or warts on my cervix. I asked my GYN if my girlfiend could cach these from me. His face hardened as he stripped off his gloves. "I really have no idea.", he said. I asked if he knew where I could get more information. He replied., "I have no idea. What do you girls do together?"
In conclusion, I wnat to change the world. Anyone with me? We have nothing to lose but our chains of homophobic law.
