Does anyone know anything that's good for a pulled/sprained muscle in the lower back/left hip region other than "Wait and let it heal"?

I'm taking generic aspirin for the pain (I forgot how much one of these could hurt), but if anyone has any personal recommendations/advice of their own I'd appreciate it.

Seems like I got the flu from somewhere. At the very least, I've got the usual headache/joint pain/tummy troubles.
