Canine Conniptions in Coal Country

Man but things have been getting hectic around here. My brother saw four coyotes chasing a deer through a local neighborhood as he did the mail route recently (no, I don't know how he knew they were 'yotes and not dogs, though he did say they looked 'kind of like wolves').

And up north of the Valley, some guy with a 13-year-old pet wolf in an enclosure lost the animal, which is now wandering the area (and probably hungry and scared). I'm kind of worried about that as the wolf has apparently been a pet its whole life and knows nothing about survival other than "humans provide food". I've read a few too many accounts of pet wild animals with no hunting skills that ended up killing people (go and check out the books of Jim Corbett for more; he was a hunter and game warden in the old British Raj who shot the Champawat Tigress among other man-eaters). I am hardly hiding behind closed doors, but I am truly hoping that this doesn't end in tragedy.

And on an unrelated note, I was just watching one of those "Ancient Aliens" shows on the History Channel (everything that was made by humans before 1 AD was actually made by aliens! Because primitive man was as dumb as dirt!) which made the mind-boggling comment that "the revelation of alien life would destroy Christianity" because "Christianity hasn't changed in the slightest in 2000 years".

Christianity hasn't changed in 2000 years? I wonder if they ever heard of a little thing called the Reformation?

Do any of these "alien experts" ever read anything othan than a supermarket tabloid?
