Sad gaming news

First of all, Dave Arneson (who helped create D&D together with Gary Gygax) has just died. All my prayers and condolences to his family right now. And thank you, Mister Arneson, for all that you gave us. *bows head*

Secondly, I just got this little note from the nice folks at Paizo:

Dear Eric,

Wizards of the Coast has notified us that we may no longer sell or distribute their PDF products. Accordingly, after April 6 at 11:59 PM Pacific time, Wizards of the Coast PDFs will no longer be available for purchase on paizo.com; after noon on April 7, you will no longer be able to download Wizards of the Coast PDFs that you have already purchased, so please make sure you have downloaded all purchased PDFs by that time.

We thank you for your patronage of paizo.com. Please check out our other downloads at paizo.com/store/downloads.

Sincerely yours,
The Paizo Customer Service Team

They cut everything, even the out of print 1st and 2nd edition material. (Why the out of print material? How was that costing them money?!?) And they didn't give even a day's warning. I'd like to say what WoTC can go and do right now but I'd have to ban myself from my own LJ. *mad*

EDIT: Correction on Dave Arneson. He didn't die, but he is in hospice and apparently it doesn't look good. My apologies.

And more WoTC news, unsure as to its accuracy: As of the 6th WOTC has also put forth the decree that unless you also have a brick and mortar store and not just an online store you may not sell any WOTC products. That one they gave a few months notice on.

So, no sales through Noble Knight or Amazon? What, is WoTC TRYING to destroy its own property?

roleplaying, d&d, stupidity
