McCoy is why I stopped watching Law & Order. He's written as just another zealot using the letter of the law for his ends; all are guilty in his eyes.

See. I think that makes the character honest. If someone is in politics and has been putting up with scum for so long (what, McCoy has be there decade and a half almost) I think that jaded high horse bit is understandable.
