And the movie and music industry wonder why limewire and old Napster are so popular.

Yeah, I'm usually really not a supporter of "steal and download", but I can understand anybody who'd do it this time. There is also "never-before-released bonus material" promised, but it's not specified whether this will be extra-scenes, picture galleries, interviews or whatever. My bets so far are on some deleted scenes which have not been cut (Elrond and Arwen, the hugging scene, Eowyn in the caves etc.), but we'll probably not know more before the release.

At the end of the day, this obvious attack on our credit cards is damaging the movie's magic a little.

And Gil-galad's cut scenes, too. Damn, I missed seeing him get torched!

Egads, yes! I got to meet Mark (Gil) at a convention a while back and took the opportunity to ask if the Gil/Sauron fight was even filmed. His response: yes, it was filmed and "I've still got the scars."

Poor baby.

Anyway. I know I will be a dork and buy at least the set for "The Two Towers", as I'm one of the 0.0001% of the fans who love that part the best.

I'm in complete agreement and thought that was the film that benefitted the most with the extended version.

*sigh* I showed the article to my husb and the first thing he said was, "someone will copy the documentaries and offer them online by August 30."

I agree with him. And while I wouldn't hack a DVD and put it online, I can promise lots and lots of screencaps. :-D

Hum, I am not buying any of them... I have got something against this kind of money making. I am still expecting them to pull the same one with Alexander.

They very likely will. A friend of mine said that the Kingdom of Heaven director's cut on DVD was twenty times better than the movie at the cinema. I feel the audience is cheated here. They can't blame "pirates" for the loss in cinema sales, if they treat the audience like idiots. >:(

The extended edition of TTT was amazing: hopefully this will compare :)

The documentary must be great. But still, I'm not happy about this obvious rip-off.

The whole thing is so OBVIOUSLY an attempt at milking the fans. OK, movie business is a BUSINESS after all, but it's been a long time since I've seen such a blatant attack on our wallets. Plus this idiotic statements - how stupid do they think we are? *grumble*

I guess there will the majorsuperboombastic edition, then the 5th anniversary collectors box etc etc etc. There is no end. >:(
