well, I had a lot of discussions lately with a couple of american friends about the way our respective countries are perceived. I decided the best way to explain the swiss/american relationship at the moment was to introduce you to the cartoon "eva" by jaermann/schaad. eva comes from former yugoslavia, and works at the swiss "walmart" equivalent. she tries to survive from day to day with her daughter and her daughter's two kids.
"eva" is highly successful in switzerland, and her adventures are printed daily in one of our biggest newspapers. the artists have a very good eye for the swiss soul, and leave no chance out to point and laugh about the very often totally incompetent representatives of our government.
so far, so good. then, one day, by sheer accident, eva got on the phone with george w. bush...
