Do any of you remember the old Jiminy Cricket shorts they used to show on the Disney Channel, featuring the famous Cricket walking down a row of books and then proceeding to tell you a lot of useful facts?

I think it was called "I'm No Fool," and at the end he would sing the song.

That's cute. I often say something similar, "Do you know how I know all (this) I Googled it!"

The internet is full of misinformation but by pooling the results of many hits the truth is usually revealed.. Well that and some very popular hoaxes, ie cats in jars etc.

I learned welding entirely out of books but I picked up recommendations for those books from the internet, as well as some very helpful Dos and Donts.

I believe it is possible to misuse a library and I believe it is also possible to use the internet to its full educational potential.

Oh, and thank you for joining my new LJ community. Seeing that you did is what inspired me to examine your LJ. I'm not likely to friend you simply because the contrast of background color to text makes it difficult to read anything here. I have to drag my mouse over text in order to increase the contrast.

Yeah, it's a shame about those Jiminy Cricket safety vids. You might find some on YouTube if you try hard enough but I sort of doubt it. They just haven't been politically correct ever since cavemen began protesting how they are perceived in the media. Damn Geico!
