I won't be getting internet in my new apartment until this Saturday.  I'm using the internet lounge at my complex, which is really nice.  This pisses me off a lot, cause it's all ATT's fault.  I was told that I could choose between two services:  DSL, but at my new address it would be much slower (~780Kbps as opposed to the 3Mbps that I had at Kerby).  Or I could use internet through UVerse, which would be 3Mbps.  So I opted for the UVerse.  I was told that I would need a new modem, and that it would come on the 13th, and that my internet would be up and running.

That never happened.  The modem never came.  I called ATT, and after getting bounced around their horrible automated "Say what you want, and we'll send you to the wrong department" service I finally found out that a technician had to install this new modem, and that would happen on the 18th between 8-10.

Now I had work thurs-sat, so I had to stay up to let the technician in.  I stayed up 'till 10 in the fucking morning, and no one came or called!!!  *ROARRRRRR*  So I call again.  Get bounced around again.  Finally talk to someone who tells me that I can only get the fast UVerse internet if I also get the TV service.  Fuck that.  So I had to stick with the shitty DSL.

The only positive is that I still have my old modem, and I can reuse it.  I don't have to pay for a new one.  Now this service is supposed to be started this Sat by 8pm.  I'm dubious, but if it fucks up again, I'll just switch to another provider like Verison or Comcast.

I just hate internet providers.  It always seems that no matter what you say you specifically want, they seem to fuck it up on their end.  By either forgetting some stipulation, or just not listening to what you want and then just letting your service falling through the cracks.  It takes forever to set this crap up, but once it's up it's usually good.  This is definitly the worst part about moving.
