Before I go into reviews, I have to bring everyone's attention to The Secret of Magic Island. It's a 60 minute movie made in France with Swedish dubbing. So we had no idea what it was about, but - baby animal town! A carnival for ducks! Evil plotting monkey! It's pretty mind blowing.

That being said, onto the movies.

Out of the Blue One of my all time favorites and we got to see it in the theater. Dennis Hopper directed and acts in it, but the real star is Linda Manz as an angst ridden teenager. She's tough but manages to keep a sweetness about her that is really hard to describe. She's a rebel but at the same time she has this incredible vulnerability that makes the character come to life. Dennis Hopper is perfectly tortured as her father. After spending 5 years in jail for slamming his big rig into a school bus, he comes home to find his daughter almost grown up. Just one of those movies that takes my breath away and makes me shiver. Five big cheers.

Parasomnia I loved it. It's just one of those movies that's visual mind candy but had some great, creepy scenes in it. It's about a girl who spends most of her life asleep and a boy who falls in love with her. She has no family and when he finds out she's going to be experimented upon, kidnaps her and takes her home. What he doesn't know is that somehow the serial killer in that same institution has control over her mind, possesses her and makes her kill people. Interesting premise and the entire movie was enjoyable from start to finish. Not to mention our actress Janet Tracy Keijser is in it and gets her jaw ripped off. Sweet. Three cheers and my own personal recommendation.
Fun! More later, I'm way behind.
