Ear candy

So, this seriously is becoming the Summer of Music for me, as Mute Math finally announced their sophomore release (Armistice), which will be hitting the streets on August 18th. This has been a loooooong time coming, and I've gotten so used to waiting on it I sort of gave up on following MM news for awhile there. It's a good thing I subscribe to ( Read more... )

Oh, hey, did you see my post about BFD? Mute Math were pretty awesome live, as reported! And, what, they only have one CD out? Huh. I thought you said they'd been around for ages.

I think there is a Dredg song on my Pandora, but I haven't paid much attention to it. But they're from the Bay Area!

:D :D :D

THANK you for directing me to your post! I'd totally missed it. Great pictures! And Darren threw his drumstick at you!! Oh man, I love him. The whole band amuses me ridiculous amounts; they're total characters. And yes, Paul Meany is responsible for making the keytar cool again in the 21st Century.

I know, it's odd: only one full-length release in the 7 or so years they've existed (broke away from an old band I used to love called Earthsuit in like... '03? '04?). But then, they didn't really start getting on people's radars until 2006 or so... it's been a long uphill battle for 'em. They've totally earned their current spotlight, far as I'm concerned. :)

And yes! Dredg is SF born and raised. If the song you have on your Pandora is "Bug Eyes" I would like to award myself +10 psychic points, because that's the one most people know. You really should check out their latest if you get the chance, though - it's miles beyond anything they've done previously, IMO.

I don't think it's "Bug Eyes"! Let me do a quick skim of song titles to see if one pings...

...Yeeeeah, I have no idea. But I don't think it's "Bug Eyes."

Ah, Earthsuit. To this day, they're one of my all time favorite bands. Yeah, they released Rise of Modern Simulation in '03, which was absolute torture because the new material was magnificent, but it was released along with the news that Earthsuit would be no more. Paul started Mute Math and Adam formed Macrosick, which was forced into hiatus by Hurricane Katrina. Now, Adam's in "the #1 soul band in Japan on MySpace" (lol!), Club of the Sons. Their stuff is pretty trippy, but I really dig some of it and Adam's vocals still make me long the Earthsuit of old. Ah, a link to Club of the Sons' page, if you're interested...
