"Feel free to make fun of me at my expense. I deserve it completely."

Aww, bless! This is almost as good as the rant itself! Christian Bale called into KROQ's Kevin and Bean show (which is so old-school; I've listened to that station since I was a teen).

Listen to the whole thing, because it's kind of fabulous. I love that he doesn't even allow them to make excuses for him. Thanks to miniglik for bringing it to my attention. Plus, he talks about my beloved T2! And Sarah Connor! And the crazy that John inherits, hahaha. I think I'm extra shocked because I've never heard him talking so frankly and openly like this, pretty much ever... he's always very guarded in interviews, it seems.

Anyway. It's FRIDAY. And it's been on-and-off pouring rain, which is just wonderful. I was casually strolling outside to get myself a taco for lunch, and by the time it was in my hands, the sky just let me have it. I entered the office again soaked beyond belief, but full of energy. Love today.

I gave up on the first book of Marianne Curley's Guardians of Time trilogy because the writing... gah. Couldn't handle it. Everyone knows first-person perspectives are touchy, but it seems so many authors just ignore that fact and go full-steam ahead with them, never stopping once to think about the mechanics... ouch. Especially in a YA context, it gets old fast. (In contrast, Life as We Knew It, another recent YA read, is relatively careful about treading those waters, and manages to avoid most of the pitfalls.) Funny how the book I turned to for respite, Sunshine by Robin McKinley, also turns out to be first-person - joke's on me. But here it actually works! RELIEF. I hope the rest of the book is as excellent as the first 100-odd pages have been, because I haven't enjoyed a really good, dense novel like this in awhile.
