Autumnal Fun

Oct 06, 2008 21:31

It is hard to get in the autumnal spirit here in Florida, since we are really entering the "pleasant summer" season, coming off "assy hot." However, it is cooling down, and we have had cloudy, rainy weather lately. I made pumpkin pie, and rt_hon_rackman made a terrific beef stew. The pumpkin patch has appeared at Elliot's school. And I took Gillian to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom this past Saturday. We took some friends along as a thank you for watching our children when we celebrated our anniversary, and everyone had a great time. Gillian wore a (non-Disney) princess dress, I wore my purple wig. We rode the Barnstormer, met Alice in Wonderland, drove on the Speedway, watched spectacular fireworks, ate a Dole Whip, rode the Peter Pan and Small World rides, went for a whirl in the teacups, and finished up on the Pooh ride. Oh, and got tons of candy.

My favorite part of the evening was the dance party. Gillian and her friend really cut a rug. I got complemented on my Time Warp moves (you haven't lived until you've seen a bunch of small children do the Time Warp). Gillian boogied with Chip, and she and her friend had such great moves on the dance floor that the DJ said they should be in a show. Just give her time, I'm sure she will be.

We got home after 1:00 am, with sleeping, happy children and two blocks of Ghirardelli carmel chocolate for me. I'm feeling October-y, oh yes.
