I can't claim to be an MJ fan either; I give him kudos for his accomplishments and I don't dislike his songs- I can even forgive him for Moonwalker- but this is more a fascination I have with what's not being said whenever he spoke. For instance, he blamed his lightening skin tone on a medical condition called vitiligo, yet people who do have this disorder tend to lose pigment in blotchy, irregular patches instead of turning into a china doll. He said explicitly that there is no such thing as 'skin bleaching' as far as he knows, which is technically true, since skin lightening probably doesn't involve bleach. And in the same interview, conceded that he only lightened his pigment so he would have an even tone. So it's dodgy. He also said he never had cosmetic surgery done, except a little corrective work on his nose to keep his singing voice in tune, when he obviously looks like he's been cut up like a glazed ham at Oprah's house and stitched back together with his nose sticking out of his chin. And he said he became addicted to prescription painkillers after his head got scorched by some wayward pyrotechnics while filming a Pepsi commercial, back in the 80s. I draw the assumption that he probably was medicating himself with painkillers and using the Pepsi burn as a public excuse, because he's been very meticulous about maintaining a public image, and yet his lies were transparent, just like a child's.
Anyway, yeah, you're right; it's a sad trip, but at least his worries are over now.
