trixstir  and I headed over to Swift Current today to see her niece, and to get some new boots for me.  I have been needing a better pair of winter boots for a while, so it's not a complete downer that I left my other pair in Calgary.  The boots I had are fine, just very difficult to put on or take off given my huge feet and the narrow opening of the boots

Yeah, I've been finding that shoe sizes are becoming increasingly non-standard as time goes on. It's mostly the *shape* involved - one shoe may be narrow at the arch, but higher in the heel, etc. Boots are especially tough. Myself, I have fairly thick calves and ankles for my shoe size, meaning I simply can't fit in most boots, though I've got a pair of nice 'swat team' boots that fit me rather well once I wrestle them on.
