trixstir and I headed over to Swift Current today to see her niece, and to get some new boots for me. I have been needing a better pair of winter boots for a while, so it's not a complete downer that I left my other pair in Calgary. The boots I had are fine, just very difficult to put on or take off given my huge feet and the narrow opening of the boots.
Our first shopping-stop was at Mark's Work Warehouse, and we actually found exactly what I wanted, but not what I had expected. The boots I wound up with are a lined rubber boot, very much like the ones I have back in Calgary. What surprises me is that these are actually a size smaller, yet they are easier to put on and take off! I guess the opening must be just a wee bit larger. The other great bonus is that these boots also have a steel toe and a steel-plate sole, plus they're electrically non-conductive! IE: They are perfect rubber boots for working around an old farm where you have no idea what's buried under the snow, mud, whatever.
Best of all, they cost half of what I had been expecting to pay!!
Tomorrow begins the real work for this trip. On the agenda:
- Install new toilet and sink basic in ensuite
- Repair Lanes 5 & 6 in Bowling Alley
- Hook up emergency generator
- Rewire bedroom electrical outlets
- Finish painting (Living Room, bathroom, bedroom)
- Install GFI outlet in upstairs bathroom
- Clear snow from driveway and walkways around farm
We'll see how much of this actually gets done. Mom is here to help with the painting, so I can pretty much expect that at least that task will be completed. The Bowling Alley is critical, and I'm hoping it's just a loose wire or popped circuit-breaker. I'll find out tomorrow. It's going to be a busy week! Here's hoping the weather continues to cooperate!
