More Hoof Trimming

Feb 15, 2015 18:15

I managed to get Bonnie's fore hooves trimmed this afternoon. The left was rock-hard, and she was constantly leaning on me, or pulling back, putting an incredible strain on my left arm as I tried to hold her foot up to work on it. By the time I got it trimmed down to something more reasonable I had no strength left in my arm, and I was aching badly. I rested a few minutes, then forced myself to tackle the right fore, which is usually more difficult.

Surprisingly, it was easier this time; the hoof material was softer and easier to cut, and she didn't lean on me as she had with the left. Still, I was so sore and so tired, that I didn't get it trimmed as much (or as well) as I would have liked. It's still a lot better than it was, but there's lots of room for improvement.

Came beck to the house to find Snips in the bath, and Trixstir had started the washer and the dishwasher, so I've been waiting for everything to finish and the water to heat up again so I can have a badly-needed shower. Just hoping my arms don't lock up again like last week. Even with a hot shower though, the stink of trimming hooves doesn't wash off, it has to wear off. :/
