It's sort of a tradition in our house that Tuesday nights are Kraft Dinner nights; it's quick and easy to make, and everyone likes it. It's a good, simple, comfort-food. Still, one doesn't turn down a free steak supper for KD.
My Briggs & Stratton sales-rep was in town this evening, and he took me to supper at the King's restaurant, which is just behind my shop. This is the second time within a month's time that I've been treated to supper there by a sales-rep, and it would seem that the special on Tuesdays is the 10oz New York Steak, with veggies and soup. The soup was a delicious beef-barley, and the steak (cooked a perfect medium) was piled high with sautéed mushrooms and onions, with assorted veggies and mashed potatoes. It's always a pleasure to meet with this rep; not only for the free meals, but because he's one of the very few who seems to actually care about his customers, and always puts in the extra effort to help things along. I've told him so on several occasions, but I've also made sure to let his superiors know as well. There's not much point just paying lip-service; sure, it's a little pat-on-the-back, but letting his bosses know that his customers really appreciate him has a much better end result. They always seem to hear about the complaints, but it's very rare to get compliments (they've told me so directly) so it makes everyone happy when they get a positive note. I've had managers write back (or even call) to say Thank You, and to assure me that the rep will know about it.
I'm still a little sore from the hoof-trimming adventure on the weekend. Yesterday was actually much worse; every muscle in my body seemed to be stiff and sore. It reminded me of when I would take old Tonka out for a ride: I'd be a little sore afterwards, but it would be the next day when I would really feel the stiffness and aching. When I was living in Phoenix, I went on trail rides a couple of times and came home aching so badly I could barely move; but we had a hot-tub next to the pool at the apartment complex, and that worked wonders. We actually have two Jacuzzi tubs here on the farm (one upstairs and one down) but they're not as good. Someday, maybe I'll be able to afford one of those big multi-person tubs, and can soak my aches and pains away in one of those.
Speaking of pain... I got a great deal on a used home-gym machine. This isn't one of those cheap ones, but a heavy-duty one that the local RCMP detachment was selling. I'm to pick it up on Thursday, so hopefully we can get it set up downstairs on the weekend. After that, "No pain, no gain!" ;)
