Second snowfall

It snowed again today, much to the aggravation of many. The weather forecasts had called for cold temperatures, but there was no precipitation in the forecast until 24 hours before it hit. At least we got some warning, but we were in a mad rush to get last-minute things done before it came. Thankfully, there doesn't seem to be quite as much as predicted, but we'll have to see what the morning brings.

Thankfully, I was able to get my neighbour Dwayne to bring us another hay bale. This was the first year that we didn't get any of our own hay cut. I had promised myself that this summer I was going to close the shop on time in the evenings so that I could get home and get work done at the farm. That simply didn't happen (again) - I was busier than ever at the shop and I'm still way behind on the work. The worst thing is, the colder weather makes it even harder to catch up, as opening the main door lets all the heat out, and the exhaust extractors don't really work well with small engines (they were designed for tractors and other vehicles.)

We also brought out the horses' heated water-buckets as the temperature is supposed to dip to -12°c overnight, and only warm up to -6°c tomorrow. We got some holes in the barn patched as well, so hopefully that will help keep everyone warmer and drier. After the last three winters, I'm really hoping for a mild one this time...
