Shopping Insanity!

I had a few places that I needed to go to today, given that I had an extra day to work with.  I needed office supplies from Staples, fancy soaps for trixstir, and of course, the trip to Costco.  The first two were at (or near) Chinook Centre, and I was able to meet with calzephyr77 and qualin for brunch at Ricky's.  The restaurant was in the same complex as the Staples store, and then I just had to go across the street to Chinook Centre to get to the store that had Trixstir's fancy soaps.  I found a couple of other fascinating stores while I was there: one that specialized in higher-end toys and make-you-think sort of toys, and a Lego specialty shop!  I can see why zrath loves Lego so much; That store was awesome, and I just wish I had a lot more money to be able to spend.  As it was, I didn't spend anything other than time.  I was tempted to buy a cinnamon bun from Cinnezeo, but the prices were far too high, and my stomach was warning me that it probably wasn't a good idea anyway.  :/

Costco was a nightmare...

I was only able to get about half of the items on my list - items that they have always had plenty of when I'm not looking for them, but now that I need them they are no longer available.  I spent some extra time checking prices on various frozen-food items that we could use in the deep-fryer at the bowling-alley, but to be honest the pricing isn't that good.  It's good for a large-family purchase, but it's not really true wholesale.  I'm quite sure the prices are better at the Real Canadian Wholesale Club, which doesn't require a membership and which we have available in Swift Current.  I did, however, discover that they now have the giant Polish Hot Dogs available in their coolers once more!  They used to have them about 10 years ago, in the coolers and their food-court; Then they stopped selling them, which was a terrible loss IMO.  The food courts brought them back last year, but they were not available for sale until recently.  I bought a pack of the Polish ones and the regular ones, telling myself we could use them for the Kidling's birthday.  ;)   I found the perfect Bday present for him as well in the books section, and my Costco Rebate-cheque was just enough to cover it.

We stayed home for supper - just something light and quick.  In this case, Michelena's mac-and-cheese, which is surprisingly good for a frozen microwavable dish.  They often come on sale for $1, which makes them a quick-and-easy choice for school lunches or at-work suppers.  It was too dark to pack the van by the time I got back, so we'll do that in the morning and hopefully be on the road by Noon.
