7th Anniversary

Today, trixstir  and I celebrated our 7th Wedding Anniversary!  Three days ago, we celebrated the Munchkin's 1st Birthday (I've been trying to upload some pictures ever since!)  It's hard to believe that the Munchkin is a year old already, and even harder to believe that Trixstir and I have been married for seven years now!  Time sure flies!

I had originally hoped to celebrate our anniversary by going to Medicine Hat for the weekend, getting a room in a nice hotel, and just enjoying each others' company for a couple days....  But the severe lack of finances put the kybosh on that idea, so instead we spent our anniversary catching up on work around the farm: Hauling a pile of scrap-lumber and tree-branches to the dump, trimming horse-hooves, and shovelling out massive amounts of manure!  The evening was better though; After a much-needed shower, we went into town and had a very nice meal at the King's Hotel.  The Kidling stayed home to babysit the Munchkin, not that we were gone that long - maybe two hours, if that.  Hopefully we can take that weekend in Medicine Hat later on once the finances improve.

Tomorrow is a civic holiday here, so that gives us an extra day to get more work done around here.  Besides the long-overdue projects of getting that wood-pile removed, and the manure shovelled, I finally got the new battery-mount installed on the IH-201 Wind-rower, and got it started up and moved.  The starter-button degraded badly over the winter, to the point where it has fallen apart (it's a rubber-button push-switch, and the rubber disintigrated!) so it will have to be replaced, but at least I was still able to start the machine and move it over to the shop.  I need 48 sickle-sections to repair the cutter-bar, and the time and knowledge to actually do that task.  As I understand it, I have to use an angle-grinder to grind off all the rivets, then install the new sickle-sections using either new rivets, or bolts.  Most people use bolts these days, as it's a lot easier to replace a section that way.  Everyone around here has their hay at least cut, if not baled, except us.  :/

Thus ends July - I'm hoping August will be better, but I'm gravely concerned about the financial situation for August; There are more bills than cash available, and they're all coming due around the same time.  Here's hoping for more customers at the shop and the bowling alley, and here's hoping that they actually pay their bills on time so I can pay mine!
