Slow going...

The week is now half-over, and it's been a week that has been busy, and yet with very little seemingly accomplished.  It seems that the surge of work that was accomplished on the weekend has been counteracted by a sluggish start to the week; I've spent more time trying to dig up information, and balancing books than I have getting any of the actual mechanical work done.  I can see where a business like this could really use a dedicated person to handle the paperwork, and that may have to be done if things get much busier.  Truly, a blessing-and-a-curse scenario.  :/

The dog that came to visit on Sunday was finally convinced to leave.  Trixstir managed to send Fugly on his way on Monday, and he hasn't been seen since.  I'm perfectly happy with that, as I really didn't want him around the place.  I suspect he probably belongs to someone on one of the rig-crews, but whoever he belongs to, I wish his owner would take better care of him; Get him a collar, take him to the vet for his shots, and make sure he has his tags.  I know several people with a shoot-on-sight policy when it comes to dogs (or other stray animals) and it's just fortuntate for Fugly that I'm not one of them.

Monday started off cold and grey, and though it warmed up a bit in the afternoon, the weather returned to rain and cold at night.  Tuesday was cold, grey, and wet as a result, and it just got worse from there.  An order that I had placed last week arrived, and I discovered that I had misunderstood the description of the product.  As a result, the customer doesn't want it, and it would cost more to send it back than the item is worth, so I'm stuck with it.  Hopefully I'll be able to find someone else who needs/wants it.  The only really good part of the entire day was that the cheque arrived from Suncor energy for their initial exploration part of their wind-farm project.  I suspect in the next few days we'll see the erection of the small instrument tower that they'll use to try to find an ideal location for the main wind-turbine.

Today went a lot better; I got some actual work done, and the parts have arrived for most of the other back-logged machines, so I should be able to make a real dent in the queue tomorrow.  Here's hoping!
