Busy trip so far...

Trixstir and I attended the Spring AGM for the WCMHC yesterday, and the meeting went on far longer than I would have expected it to.  We actually had to leave before it ended, as we had prior commitments to keep.  The meeting went over very well, I thought, and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people attending.  One of the great parts of the meeting was learning that one of our longest-running members, KC Pappas of First Knight Miniatures, had received the AMHA Lifetime Achievement Award!  This award is a major accomplishment, and only one breeder per year is selected.  This is one of the highest, if not the highest, honour that the AMHA bestowes upon its members, and to beat out hundreds (if not thousands) of major breeders in the USA really speaks of the quality of KC's horses and her dedication to the breed!  Congratulations KC, you've done us proud!  :)

After the meeting we met up with Trixstir's friends (her former co-workers from House of Tools) for supper.  The meal was excellent and it was good to see everyone again.  During the meal, the snow started coming down pretty hard again, and the trip back to Mom's place was thus driven a bit more slowly.  Most people driving the Deerfoot last night were slowing down for the road conditions, but there always has to be a few idiots out there.  We passed at least two accident scenes where someone had lost control on the slick road and slid into the barriers, or worse, another vehicle.  From what we could see there were no serious injuries, but plenty of smashed-up fenders.  :/

My brother phoned late last night to tell Mom that he and his GF had just gotten home to find out that the house had been broken into, and all of his stuff (plasma TVs, computers, etc.) had been stolen!  He has my sympathies, having been through this myself nearly 20 years ago.  This is why I have monitored alarm systems on all of my properties.  I hope he doesn't get screwed by the insurance companies.  :/

We're heading up to meet our friends for brunch in a few minutes, and afterwards I need to head over to Memory Express, Costco, and Rona to get some supplies and equipment for the shop.  The next two days are going to be equally busy, so I just hope that we can get everything done in the short time that we're here.
