So much for the weather holding...
I got some cutting done early in the morning, but not where I really needed to. I was cutting down the high grass in the old corral, again with the idea that we could move a bunch of other stuff in there until we could figure out what to do with it. The skies were clear, and it looked like the weather was going to cooperate. I'm learning the hard way that the weather can change fast around here. It went from clear skies and hot to cold and wet very quickly. Unfortunately, the area we had cleared yesterday is going to need a lot more work before we can put the horses there, so I needed to clear another area next to garage to get the corral panels put up. Naturually, this meant working in the rain.
It wasn't a heavy rain, just a light drizzle, but it was enough that I was getting soaked through by the time I was done. Stopped for lunch (and to dry off) and then
trixstir helped me set up the panels. Thankfully the rain had let up a little more by then, though it would come back heavier later.
Unfortunately, this rain is not helping my mood. I was supposed to be back in Calgary three days ago, and it looks like I'll head back tomorrow. I don't really want to travel on the last day of a long weekend, but there's little else I can do here now, and we have to get the horses and other things packed and brought out here. I still need to secure a trailer to move them with, so that's something else that's worrying me. We also need to build a small shelter for the horses until we can get the other buildings cleared out. The garage provides shelter from the East, and the quonset provides some shelter from the South, but we need to give them some sort of roof and protection from the North and West. It won't be difficult to build, just some 2x4s and some plywood (which we have plenty of) but we're running out of time.
