Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed comment. And you've said such flattering things, I'm not quite sure where to start.

I was keen that though Dan is necessarily a little bit clueless here, he still comes across as an intelligent person, albeit it one with a very different type of moral compass to Adrian, so I'm really glad that worked out for you. I agree he's more emotionally intelligent that Adrian - Adrian really, IMHO, only knows how to manipulate people - so much so he does it without even meaning to sometimes - rather than actually connect with them. I imagine he's perfectly used to initiating sex as a utilitarian function, as you put it, but he just gets himself in over his head because he's not used to actually caring about someone as a person. Silly boy.

Thanks again for taking the time to review; I really do appreciate it.

Beautifully done, every bit. Very in character for both. Great dialogue. And the best kind of sex -- where it fits perfectly as part of the story and character reveal/development. Loved it!

Eeee, thank you! I'm really pleased the sex worked for you, because I hate writing sex (I'm a masochist, apparently). Thanks for taking the time to comment!

This story hit a weird nerve for me, I suppose -- I've got tears in my eyes at how bleak and utterly heartbreaking this seems. The dialogue is pitch-perfect, and the sex -- you've taken something that should be raw and passionate and stripped all the emotion from it, and Dan's regret comes across so real and aching that I can't help but feel it, and it fucking hurts.

Bravo, bravo. It's been a long time since a fic has hit me so hard -- this is one of my top three in Watchmen fandom for sure. This story could depress even Morrissey, and you know, that's a good thing.

Hahaha - I think this has to be one of my favourite comments I've ever recieved on a fic! Thank you! Your whole reaction is really gratifying (wow, I'm mean) - I really appreciate you taking the time to comment, and I'm really pleased this worked for you.

Weren't you writing fic, btw? How's that going?
