Perfect. Absolutely, sublimely perfect.

Your first got me with the existentialism in the conversation that Dan and Adrian have, about the nature of heroism and what saving the world might actually entail, and there is always that threat of Adrian's great plan to save humanity lingering in the background.

Your Adrian is so perfectly in character for me as well; obviously concerned for the world as a whole, but so lacking in any intimate emotion for any one person. This encounter with Dan seems to be a teensy, tiny little glance into his inner emotions, but the fact that he is so withdrawn after they've had sex speaks volumes. Maybe it's because Adrian is younger here, and that's why he's allowed himself to get this close to Dan, and it won't happen again. Gah. It's perfect.

And Dan! Poor muddled, confused Dan! It seems as though he gets hints of what Adrian is thinking, but can't piece everything together to realise what might happen later. But he's still so perceptive that he can see that Adrian has issues with intimacy, which is an area where I think Dan is more intelligent than Adrian - in terms of emotional intelligence.

God. And the sex? So, so hot! Love the fact that Adrian has his back to Dan the whole time and that Dan can't find a way to become more intimate with him! I love it, and it highlights the way I think Adrian views sexual relations - more as a necessary evil, something to be enjoyed but in a utilitarian manner, nothing more.

I could go on, but I just wanted to let you know that I am so in love with this. The relationship dynamics between the two of them capture everything I love about the pairing.

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed comment. And you've said such flattering things, I'm not quite sure where to start.

I was keen that though Dan is necessarily a little bit clueless here, he still comes across as an intelligent person, albeit it one with a very different type of moral compass to Adrian, so I'm really glad that worked out for you. I agree he's more emotionally intelligent that Adrian - Adrian really, IMHO, only knows how to manipulate people - so much so he does it without even meaning to sometimes - rather than actually connect with them. I imagine he's perfectly used to initiating sex as a utilitarian function, as you put it, but he just gets himself in over his head because he's not used to actually caring about someone as a person. Silly boy.

Thanks again for taking the time to review; I really do appreciate it.
