was shattered by a secretary who collapsed in a heap in the pantry, which lead to a flurry of activity and commotion around my neck of the woods in the office. I got a bit worried when she didn't regain consciousness after 5 minutes, and hoped that it wasn't serious. A doctor was summoned, and he arrived with a nurse in tow. He managed to revive her after a bit of prodding, and checked her vital signs. It was a relief to know that she was generally ok. She went back home to rest once she was able to walk.
Later in the day, a row erupted between one of my bosses and her secretary, there was shouts, screaming and crying - obviously a stressful day for some ......
Then there were the clients who wanted to know whether I had a direct number. I gave it to them but they said that they get my secretary every time they dialled this number .... I so wanted to say that she's there to screen my calls to filter out people like YOU (but of course I couldn't and didn't) .....
I told my colleague later in the evening that in terms of quality of work product, there's no such thing as cheap, fast and good.....
Work keeps piling on my desk - I think I finally reached the "critical" stage with 4 high piles of files on my desk that are not budging ...... it is my temp's last day today so there will be one less pair of hands to churn the work out from now on ....
And its late - so getting up will be difficult tomorrow .....
