Yesterday -
So the New Year is here. No real perceptible changes. The earth did not shake. Apart from the hugs and greetings at church, there was nothing to distinguish it from any other Sunday that has gone on before. A good tim sum lunch with family was had at the Crystal Jade Paragon Branch, and now am back at home - too hyped up to sleep, but too unmotivated to do anything else except stare at the screen, having desultory chats with tired friends online, and reading LJ updates of those who are conscious or rational enough to blog after a socially active New Year's eve. Managed to write an e.mail to clients on a file in a bid to be constructive. Took mom out for a seafood dinner at the Ubin Seafood joint at the junction of 6th Avenue, which she enjoyed a lot. We had the usual fare: boiled prawns in Chinese wine, chili crab (gravy was scrumptioius), crispy baby squid, and chicken/mutton satay (tender with a good peanut gravy). Service (for a seafood restaurant) was pretty good, with offers to change plates and providing us with a bowl to put all the crab shells and other cast-offs. The valet parking helps, given the complete lack of parking in that area, with 3 other restaurants operating along the same stretch of shophouses, including the ever-popular but pretty pricey Corduroy & Fitch (pretty overrated, in my opinion). Will be back.
Today -
Got up automatically at a ridculously early time of 07.25, possibly because I dozed off at 10.30 last night whilst reading. Someone new sent me a heart from Fridae, so I did the decent thing and reciprocated. Tidied the bookshelf and the CD collection, so feeling somewhat accomplished. Chatted with a MSN friend from Toronto online for a bit, and with neuy who had just come back from watching a movie. Now just chilling with some music which I haven't heard for a while (Vivaldi's Gloria) and will be preparing lunch - mushroom soup to begin with, then I will be frying a nice piece of ribeye steak I bought from Swiss Butchery topped with Cafe de Paris butter with fries along with a salad. Going over to sis' place for dinner later. Not sure what to do in the afternoon - sleep, gym or veg and do nothing at all? Such nice possibilities over a lazy holiday - haha .....
Postscript: Decided to snooze in the end - just got up, and will play Zookeeper for some completely unintellectual fun times!
